Local residents recognise us by our award winning garden which is an oasis in the inner city.
The garden began life in the 1990’s, with an attempt to brighten up the space with a few potted plants. It won the Newham in Bloom competition annually from 1998 until 2002, after which the competition ended. The garden is often used for photographs for the many weddings and engagement parties that are held in the Centre.
The garden has developed since then. It is sustained by the many volunteers who help annually with the planting, and the local residents who so generously donate plants, cuttings, pots and even benches. We’ve found that many of our groups from young people on our education project to the little ones in our nursery have discovered the joy of gardening in the hundreds of pots containing plants crammed into every available nook and cranny.
We are very proud of the garden we have created and invite you to share it.
